Camping

Hera sits back against a tree trunk, strumming a sad, lonely tune on her lute and watching everyone mill around the campsite. Has it really been only a year since we were doing this same thing, wandering through planes with a handful of strange and wonderful creatures? she wonders. Time seems to have gone by so fast. With a sigh, she stretches her legs out and hums along with the melancholy song.

  1. Zeus eases down beside her and gently places his hand on her knee. After a few moments he begins to sing with his sister's melancholy tune. " Oh pale beauty, your pain is so harsh. Followed your duty into that dark marsh. Evil did lay your love lifeless and cold, pray your burden is eased as it grows old." He closes his eyes as a sad smile plays across his lips before continuing. "The order of life was cast low, on the day her love received that harsh blow. Now pale beauty is empty yet bold, her heart is broken and her love easily sold." Zeus leans over and kisses Hera's cheek and stands, a slight tear trickling down his alabaster cheek.

  2. "Not that easily, you prude," she mutters, her words sounding sad rather than insulted.

  3. A playful smile washes across Zeus's face at Hera's comment. "Prude?! I can't even imagine what you mean by that. I've done things that would make a succubus shiver, never mind all the others I've made shiver as well." He then dances off in the direction of Goddard. He smiles and bows to him. "Oh Goddard, you great furry beast, won't you pleasure me." He smiles back a Hera," With a dance, of course." He laughs deeply, "Hera, my love, play something hard and fast." He follows his comment with a wicked grin at Goddard.

  4. Hera laughs in spite of herself, her brother pulling her away from the edge of depression once again. "You're not the only one who's capable of making others shiver," she reminds him, her fingers smoothly moving from her first song into something merry and quick- the kind of song you dance to in a tavern.

  5. Zeus takes Goddard's arm and begins to twirl about with a almost magical movement that captures the eye and the heart at once. His movements and guidance of Goddard's bulky frame make them appear as if they had practiced for years. Zeus throws his head back and laughs with child-like glee at the merriment.

  6. Smiling Hera watches her brother closely, studying the way he covers up his grief so easily. Even after all this time, Sebastian's loss cuts him deeply. His pain is my own fault, I should never have... She shakes her head, willing the words away and concentrates more on playing for him. Don't think about it.

After all, no good deed goes unpunished.
